Final Silent Video #3

For this last video I took some of the images from Rough Cut #5 but really expanded on the use of rhythm, my goal was you could watch this and play a musical rhythm off of it almost like you were reading sheet music.

Final Silent Video #2

In this second video I took a lot from Rough Cut #2 I wanted to change the beginning though to add a sense of exploration, almost like a child looking at something for the first time and then by the end of the video piecing all these new visuals together to form a common trait that they all share.

Final Silent Video #1

For this video I wanted to create the image of an on-going tree while at the same time disorientates the viewer, so that you know in the beginning you are going up, and at the end you are going down, but your not really sure which direction you were going between that.

Rough Cut Sketch #5

I used the blurred images for this Rough Cut and at this point I really didn't have much of an idea what to do with them so I simply just ordered them in the way I liked and uploaded them to video with one or two edits to the duration of a shot.

Rough Cut Sketch #4

While I was shooting footage for this Rough Cut I was thinking that some of these trees look an awful lot like a person. So I tried to edit together all the shots that look like people.

Rough Cut Sketch #3

Since it is the end of winter I didn't have to worry about leaves so began shooting tree tops, and I liked the chaos of space created by the branches going every which way. I tried to edit other shots together to create a kind of kaleidoscope image with tree branches.

Rough Cut Sketch #2

For this Rough Cut I wanted to demonstrate a connection between all trees, which ended up being loss of limb. Though each tree is different I hadn't come across one that didn't have a missing trunk in the bark.

Rough Cut Sketch #1

For this first Rough Cut I was looking to find continuous colors that were present in the bark, specifically the greens and blues.

Image Capturing Strategies

My image capturing strategy for this drift was to focus on trees, their shape, color, texture, and what they resemble. I tried to edit this into the first four Rough Cuts. My second strategy was the use of blurry images, which can be seen in my fifth Rough Cut. For this strategy I focused on color, contrast, and texture.

Drift Strategy

For my drift 2 strategy I used a timed walk method, in which I set my cell alarm for five minutes and every time the alarm went off I changed direction. I started walking North and once it was time to change direction I would choose either East or West. When it was time to change direction again I would walk North and repeat this process until the four hours was up. I never chose to walk South.
